Image of a dirty and worn out pair of bootsIf you love your cowboy boots, it is essential that you take care of them and protect them from cracks and marks. Dirt and dust, after all, are boots’ worst enemies. Regular cleaning prevents these elements from eating out the microscopic fiber that makes your cowboy boots durable.

A.A. Callister shares some maintenance tips to help you extend the life of your best men’s cowboy boots.

Cleaning

Every cleaning process should start with using horsehair to wipe off dust and particles before they settle on creases of the boots. Use cardiac cowboy boots cream to remove deep-seated dirt. Note though that cream should match the color of your boots.

Wet Boots

Never expose your pair of boots to heat. Stuff them well and leave them to air dry. If possible, stuff with cedar shoetree to absorb any moisture and prevent the sole from curling. Avoid using an external source of heat to speed up the drying process. Most importantly, never wear the same pair of boots for more than one day. Allow them to air out.

Repair and Storage

Do not wait very long to resole. You can also consider adding an overlay of highly elastic but sturdy rubber to extend the service life of the sole and save money from regular resoling. Keep your boots from direct light and damp places so that they will not lose their original color.

Nothing more will assure you of long years of use than keeping up on maintenance. Again, never allow the sole rubber to wear out; replace the sole before that happens. Also, proper cleaning and moisturizing are must-dos to maintain the shape and color of your boots.
