Your tools come in various shapes and sizes: there is a hairdressing scissor to use for each cut, but more importantly, you have some knowledge on which cut looks best for which face shape. Both are valuable and should be used together to deliver a flattering haircut every time.
When cutting a client’s hair, pay attention to their past styles and their level of comfort, especially when you are going for a bob.
Compliment Their Style
You will get a lot of information about a client from their personal style and makeup. All these go together, so if a haircut suits their fashion sense, they will receive it with more praise.
Consider a lawyer, for instance, who dresses in modest suits for her job. You would not suggest going crazy with her hair colour, as he or she might not receive this well in the workplace.
Make Them Feel at Home
When people want something different for their hair, there is probably something big going on in their life. This means you see them at a vulnerable time when they are trying to make things better for themselves. The last thing you want is to make them feel scared at the salon.
Talk to them without overstepping your boundaries. They should be relaxed throughout the appointment, as stress might make a beautiful cut look unflattering in their eyes.
